Introducing Brook and SH:24

From 1 April 2021, Brook will be delivering a new, innovative all-age sexual health and contraception service in Blackburn with Darwen.

Working in partnership with SH:24, an award-winning supplier of digital sexual health and reproductive services, we will provide a unique blend of online and face-to-face provision fit for the digital age.

About Brook

Brook is a nationwide sexual health and wellbeing charity that was established over 55 years ago. Brook has been providing sexual health services for young people in Blackburn for a number of years and from April 2021, began supporting residents of all ages. Brook operates from one main site in Blackburn town centre and will be looking to provide services within the community.

Brook will also continue to support education and youth services in Blackburn with Darwen to deliver safe and effective Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), and deliver outreach clinics to ensure that everyone has access to our services.

Brook will take a life course approach, with a strong focus on education, early intervention and prevention for children, young people and those at risk.

About SH:24

SH:24 will be partnering with Brook to provide adults in Blackburn with Darwen with online sexual health and contraception services, including postal STI tests, treatment, oral contraception and remote clinical support. SH:24 will ensure you have access to a 24/7 digital service, alongside walk-in and appointment clinics.

Set up by a team of public health professionals, sexual health clinicians, designers and academics, SH:24 is designed around people’s needs and is not-for-profit. It works alongside existing face-to-face services with the simple aim of using technology and clinical expertise to improve people's health and wellbeing. Their safeguarding approach has been developed in consultation with young people and the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare

SH:24 have successful delivered over 300,000 STI tests, and won the Queens Award for Enterprise - Innovation 2018, and the Guardian Public Service Awards 2018 for Digital and Technology.

SH:24 is registered with the CQC and uses UKAS accredited laboratories.
